· Clinical Assessment · Musculoskeletal Care · Biomechanics

My approach focuses on understanding why symptoms have developed by identifying the factors contributing to musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. This helps patients better understand their condition and the options available to them.

Assessment may include a detailed medical history together with neurological, orthopaedic and biomechanical assessment. Previous imaging, including MRI, CT scans and X-rays, are reviewed as part of the clinical assessment to help identify the likely source of symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Additional investigations or referral to another healthcare professional may also be recommended if they are likely to support diagnosis or treatment.

Clinical evaluation also considers how movement, strength and mechanical loading may contribute to the development of musculoskeletal symptoms. The aim is to optimise biomechanical function while identifying the underlying factors influencing a patient's condition, helping to guide the most appropriate clinical approach.

Clinical Experience

James has 15 years of clinical experience assessing and managing musculoskeletal conditions.

Between 2013 and 2017 he worked within a multidisciplinary hospital environment at Clinique Générale, Fribourg, Switzerland, collaborating with orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and radiologists through regular multidisciplinary case discussions. During this time he also worked within the Medical Imaging Centre, integrating MRI and radiographic findings into clinical assessment.

His clinical experience spans a wide range of musculoskeletal presentations, including spinal disorders, upper and lower limb conditions, persistent musculoskeletal pain, and recreational and sports-related injuries. Clinical assessment also includes recognising presentations that may require further investigation or referral to another healthcare professional.

Clinical Approach

Every patient presents differently. Assessment begins with understanding why symptoms have developed rather than simply focusing on where they are felt.

Consultation may include a detailed medical history together with neurological, orthopaedic and biomechanical assessment where appropriate. Previous investigations, including MRI, CT scans and X-rays, are reviewed alongside the clinical findings to help identify the likely source of symptoms and guide management. Where indicated, additional investigations or referral to another healthcare professional may also be recommended.

Clinical evaluation also considers how movement, strength and mechanical loading may contribute to musculoskeletal symptoms, helping identify the factors influencing a patient's condition and supporting an individualised management plan.
